View Our Mid-Summer Preview of our 2008 Bull Sale calves. 2007 Kraye Angus Sale Catalog in PDF
The 16th Annual John Kraye Angus Production Sale was held on Monday, February 26th, 2007, at the Kraye Angus Sale facility, in Mullen Nebraska. Although the weather was acceptable in Mullen on sale day, as close as 25 miles east, ranchers were trying to dig out and recover from another brutal blizzard that blew thru on Sunday, which justifiably made the sale day crowd much lighter than normal. All of us sandhillers are still reeling from the total lack of grass, this past year due to the drought, and all cattlemen are wondering just what the coming summer will have in store for us, so this pensive attitude made for a rather dreary sale. A softer bull market, meant that some of the Kraye Angus customers got some real bargains on some high quality angus bulls, that had the structural soundness, desired body condition and over-all eye appeal, that today’s progressive market demands. The sale started promptly at 1o’clock MST, and lasted for a little over two hours. All in all, 91 Lots of Performance Bred Registered Yearling Angus bulls were sold during the sale, for an average price of $2132. The top selling bulls were Lot 4, Kraye On Target JK 6216, a Boyd’s On Target son out of a Krugerrand daughter, sold to Y-Six Livestock, in Hyannis Nebraska, for $5,750. Lot 87, Kraye On Target JK 6165, an On Target son, out of a Genetic Trend granddaughter, sold to Steve McNitt, of Kearney Nebraska, for $4,800. Y-Six Livestock also purchased Lot 1, Kraye War Alliance JK 6139, a WAR Alliance 9126 son, out of a VRD daughter, and Lot 7, Kraye Ambush MK 652, a B/R Ambush 28 son, out of a Hyline Right Time 338 daughter, for $4,500 respectively. All of us at Kraye Angus would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You, to everyone who came to the sale, whether you came and bought a bull, or came to visit. We appreciate your interest. As we finish up the paper work and tie up the loose ends, on the 2007 bull sale, we are already making notes, of changes we would like to see in future sales, and writing reminders of the procedures that have worked well, that we would like to continue. A good friend and fellow Angus breeder, has chosen to retire, and is having a dispersion sale in the fall of 2007. This frees up a sale day, for our auctioneer, and after careful consideration, we have decided to move our sale date, out of the last Monday, in February, and into the first Saturday of April. We sincerely hope that this day will work for all of our customers. We will look forward to seeing everyone on the 5th day of April, 2008, for the 17th annual Kraye Angus bull sale.
Sincerely, |
