19th Annual Kraye Angus Bull Sale

 Welcome to the 19th Annual Kraye Angus Production Sale.
Historically, talking about the weather has always been an acceptable way to open a conversation, but after a year of being battered and bruised by an excess of all kinds of weather, no one wants to talk about the weather. In the past year we have learned that the old saying, “All things in moderation” pertains to the weather too, especially rain and snow.
Life on the ranch has gone on despite the brutal spring blizzards and the cool, cloudy, wet summer. Just when a person thought they had learned all of the tricks to putting up good quality hay, along came a year when the weather was so disagreeable that it was impossible to follow normal procedures, and very little good hay got baled.
The cattle enjoyed the summer with an abundance of cool season grasses, although by fall they missed the nutritional power of the warm season grasses. We weaned the bull calves in the middle of August, and then on the third of October we trucked the bulls to a small feed yard, south and west of North Platte, owned and operated by Albert and Alan Sonneman. This was a hard decision for us to make. We had to consider the economic advantages of taking the bulls to the feed, instead of paying the ever rising cost of having the bull feed delivered to Mullen. The Sonneman’s had excellent references and they have worked tirelessly to supply the bulls with their daily needs and keep them fed and bedded. The bulls’ rations have been under the supervision of Bob Elliott, the district sales manager for ADM Alliance Nutrition, Inc.
Even though we haven’t been able to go thru the bulls on a daily basis, we have made it a point for at least one of us to go thru the bulls once a week. To keep track of the bulls’ progress, we have taken monthly weights and adjusted their feed accordingly.
The bulls are in large lots and are getting adequate exercise, and they are very calm and easily handled, with naturally good dispositions.
Looking thru this catalog, these bulls are the end result of a lifelong commitment that we have made to raising Angus cattle of the highest quality. These bulls have met the standards that we have set for consistency, quality and integrity.
Sired by the most progressive bulls in the Angus breed, these bulls will deliver some of the most powerful genetics available, for both performance and calving ease.
In accordance with the demands of the AAA, any bulls with an ancestor that was suspect of AM, have been tissue tested thru the Igenity Lab.
All the bulls will be semen tested, BVD tested, and ultra sounded, with the ultra sound results processed thru the CUP program.
The yearling heifers offered for sale were selected from our replacement heifers and were subjected to the same quality standards that the bulls have been. These heifers will be offered in groups of five, as purebred commercial heifers.
We take enormous pride in consistently offering, year after year, cattle of this quality. These bulls and heifers are deep bodied, heavily muscled, strong boned and structurally sound. They are ready to go to work in anyone’s cow herd.
