THE COMMUNITY
John Kraye Angus Ranch is located south of Mullen, NE which is near the geographical center of the Sandhills and sits above one of the deeper parts of the Ogallala Aquifer. Cattle ranching is the primary industry in this community because it is offers the best use of this type of land.
Mullen is a rural communtiy of roughly 450 residents. It is the county seat and the only town in Hooker County. For being such a remote little town Mullen offers a few surprises, such as: a Family Medical Practice with two doctors, a Nursing Home and a strong K-12 school. On top of the their Grocery Store and ever essential 3 Feed Stores, Mullen has a few interesting Variety Shops.
Mullen's strongest assest, however, remains its people. The integretiy, hospitality, and strong work ethic instilled in the residents are vital to the overall character of the Community.
Mullen residents enjoy their football. Besides cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers on cool fall days the community energeticly follows Mullen High School Football, often to state play-offs. The 2003 Mullen Bronco Football team cruised to a 13-0 season capping it off with a Nebraska State D-2 Football Title. David Kraye was a senior team leader, #64.
